Seeing Heat: Infrared Leak Detection for Vehicles
An Italian car maker uses the VTech PLD2000 Infrared Refrigerant Sniffer as a final leak test after A/C filling. The PLD units provide a higher leak test resolution (1 g/y of R134A) versus traditional halogen leak detectors; in addition they are more robust for an industrial environment in that they do not pick-up false alarms from other sources such as solvents and alcohol. In addition to its superior technology, the PLD infrared detector cuts down on maintenance cost as its sensor has an almost unlimited life.
